History

Founded in 1906 in Izegem, Bluestar has remained in the same family for four generations. The atelier survived two world wars and the collapse of the Belgian footwear industry by repositioning itself as a specialist OEM partner for premium European brands. Today it operates one of the few remaining vertically-integrated leather workshops in the Benelux.

Craftsmanship

Bluestar still cuts patterns by hand and finishes edges with traditional waxed thread. Its leathers are sourced exclusively from European bovine hides — by-products of the regional food industry — and tanned in partnership with LWG-rated tanneries in Italy and France.

Sustainability

100% European raw materials, water-recycling finishing line, and a take-back programme for offcuts that are reworked into small leather goods. Carbon reporting since 2021.
